The weather in Oxford will continue to be cloudy and cool today and Friday. Over the weekend the temperature will rise slightly, but with it will come occasional showers.

Here’s what’s been happening in Oxford…

💷£1.3m funding to promote physical activity in Oxfordshire

Local charity Active Oxfordshire has received funding from the Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West Integrated Care Board, Oxfordshire County Council, as well as city and district councils.

The £1.3m is set to touch more than 16,000 residents and further the charity’s ongoing work, as well as launch a programme for infants.

👨‍🎓👩‍🎓University of Oxford announces six recipients of honorary degrees

This year, at the Encaenia ceremony, the six honorary degrees will be given to:

  • Warren East (engineer and businessperson)

  • Sir Demis Hassabis (computer scientist, AI researcher and entrepreneur)

  • Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala (economist)

  • Sir Michael Palin (actor, writer)

  • Anoushka Shankar (musician, composer and producer)

  • Professor Salim Yusuf (cardiologist and epidemiologist)
